The Cutler Family

MEET THE TEAM

  • MITCH CUTLER - OWNER

Mitch grew up in the 1970’s of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The child of Arn Cutler & Zin Barn, he was raised with sister Randy in a home for free thinkers. Going to Talmud Torah helped foster a lifelong fascination with ancestral wisdom practices. Graduating at McGill University in Art History encouraged love of the aesthetic. Working a quarter of a century in the San Francisco Bay Area restaurant scene prepared the way for a N.Y. Times Top 100 Restaurant & numerous Wine Spectator awards. A 2010 illness with Prostate Cancer provided the impetus for chang, and following a Masters Degree in Spiritual Nutrition from the UCSF overseen by Dr. Gabriel Cousens, he felt prepared for the new world that is coming. Based on a prophetic dream from daughter Ali Tate the family moved to Texas Hill Country to have a baby and begin building a new world…

  • SKY CUTLER - LEAD FARMER

Sky Cutler grew up in the Silicon Valley of Northern California. As a baby, his crib was in the kitchen of his families restaurant. Growing up in a New York Times rated restaurant provided him with a solid foundation in the hospitality industry. Upon graduating from Florida Atlantic University with a BA in Hospitality Management, he worked to save enough money for travel abroad. A one year trip quickly turned into 8+ years where he lived in Bali, Indonesia while managing hospitality venues. Upon moving back to the United States 1 month before Covid in 2020 and witnessing the food system collapse, he transitioned from hospitality to growing food. The subsequent time spent working on farms motivated him to open Dirt Candy Farm with the motivation of creating more food sovereign communities. When he’s not in the garden, Sky enjoys working out, spending time with his family , and planning his next surf adventure.

  • SETH RUGGIERO - FARM MANAGER

Seth Ruggiero has been living and working at Dirt Candy Farm since April, 2023. In the decade prior, he traveled the country mentoring kids as a wilderness therapy survival guide and carpentry instructor. He was also a lead artisan baker at a well-known Austin bakery and, most recently, an herbalist's assistant right here in Wimberley. Seth brings almost two years of organic farming experience to Dirt Candy Farm. He also enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with his three-year-old daughter and aspiring farmer, Penelope, along with his two dogs, Martin and Millie.

REGENERATIVE
AGRICULTURE

We grow in a holistic style which nourishes people and the earth. We grow mixed produce and microgreens while practicing no till, cover cropping, crop rotation, and composting in an effort to replicate what nature has been doing since the beginning. We grow food we want to eat.

We’re currently building the farm and installing infrastructure. We have recently completed our nursery/greenhouse, are installing irrigation on our 2.5 acre market garden, and have planted a grove of 90 fruit trees. Our hope is to create a sustainable/resilient food supply locally.
