THIS WEEKS
SEASONAL AVAILABILITY
We grow organiK* seasonal produce without the use of chemicals/pesticides
K = know your farmer

*HARVEST DROP PROMISE*
We will do our best to grow 100% of your pre-order Harvest Drop produce. Sometimes mother nature has other plans, and crop failures may occur. When this happens, we source produce/ingredients from other local/regenerative farms as near to us as possible. We grow food we want to eat, which is why we'll only source food grown organically and with love.

MICROGREENS

We grow microgreens year round in our greenhouse. They can be pre-ordered online with our veggie bag. We grow sunflower, pea-shoot, broccoli, and radish.
GREENS
Weather permitting, we grow salads year round. Our Spring Mix includes but is not limited too arugula, bok choy, tat soi, mizuna, and microgreens. When the weather cools down, we grow spinach and lettuce.
OKRA
Green clemson spineless okra, and red burgundy okra are our favorites. They taste similar, but together, add a nice color aesthetic to all your kitchen creations.
CUCUMBER
We have some smaller mixed/hybrid cucumbers which can be used for pickling, juicing, and salads. Our favorite cucumber however and the one we will grow from now on, is the Armenian Yard Long cucumber. It’s sweeter bigger and juicer than a normal cucumber and can be used like any small cucumber including pickling, juicing, and salads!
TOMATO
At the moment we have a variety of mixed heirloom tomatoes, determinate tomatoes, and assorted cherry tomato colors. The heat of central Texas summer has stopped the plants from fruiting which is why we expect them in spring, early summer, and late summer/autumn. We will make an announcement on social media when they return!
EGGPLANT
3 different varieties grow at Dirt Candy Farm. Black Beauty, Rosa Blanca, and Japanese eggplant. Cook them all the same, and enjoy one of summers delicacies.
SUMMER SQUASH
Our favorite summer squash is Patty Pan (a.k.a. early white bush scallop squash). Grandparents will be sure to remember this old world staple. With the appearance of a pac-man video game character, this sweet/buttery squash can be cooked like any other summer squash, our favorite way to to cook it is stuffing it with a rice/quinoa medley and baking it in the oven, but a butter sauté brings out its natural character. We also grow zucchini, straigthneck yellow, delicate, and zephyr.
GREEN ONION
A.K.A. bunching onion or spring onion, we plant these in spring, and harvest throughout the summer. When our supply runs out, we wait until the weather cools in autumn to plant more. Use the greens of these alliums on all your meals as a garnish.
BITTER MELON
This African native called “Kiwano” jelly melon, or “Horned” melon is bitter not sweet. With a taste reminiscent of a cucumber/banana/pineapple it has massive health benefits including an abundance of antioxidants. You can scoop it out and eat it raw, but our favorite way to use it is as a topping on vanilla ice cream or yogurt. A quick google search will show dozens of other unique recipes including one with scallops!

OTHER THINGS WE'RE TRYING!

We also love garlic, ginger, sweet potatoes, sorghum sugar, water melon, cantaloupe, peppers, broccoli, cabbage, flowers... As the garden grows we will add more!

COMING SOON!
We plant with the seasons. As the weather cools, we plant more salads, including arugula, bok choy, tat soi, mizuna, lettuce, and spinach. We will also be planting roots including carrots, beets, radish, and turnips. Although we have some of these things now, they were planted in the heat of summer and their quality only gets better as the temperature cools. Towards the end of winter we hope to have broccoli and cabbage!

DID YOU KNOW: carrots become sweeter after a frost! Winter carrots are the way to go!
